The Most Interesting Baby in the World

Brennan has gotten to experience quite a lot in his short life so far.  In fact, he has been experiencing so much, I haven't been able to keep up with it all on this blog.  So, without further ado, here are a few highlights from our summer as a family.

We took an epic roadtrip to Virginia for Shannon and Matt's wedding.  Packing up, I thought we might be crazy, but, luckily, B loves riding in the car, and we got very good at nursing at rest stops along the way. We really enjoyed some Wendling family time at our cabin in Wintergreen, complete with hiking on the old Appalachian Trail. Brennan seems to love the outdoors as much as his parents do, and doesn't mind whether he travels by stroller, carrier, or even--when it's too hot for the carrier and too bumpy for the stroller--Dad's arms.

On our way home, we got to visit Aunt Sara and the Dery family in Cincinnati, which was a blast.  We can't wait to go back!

The trip gave us a great opportunity to test out some more of our baby gear, like our super travel-friendly bassinet.  Of course, it also gave the dude plenty of time to learn how to escape...

Then, to extend our trip just a bit more (and avoid getting home at an ungodly hour of the night), we stayed at French Lick Resort in Indiana, which was a great splurge...and very relaxing.

Back home, we used every bit of summer to indulge in family time: hiking, eating ice cream, and generally living it up.

Brennan did give us a scare and a couple visits to the hospital, but, thankfully, he handled it like a trooper, and all is well now.

Scarlett is adjusting to her role as big sister.  She loves the little dude, but isn't too keen on all the crying.

Parenting is definitely tiring...

...and it isn't all fun and games...

...but we sure are loving the adventure so far.

  1. Looks like a great first summer! He's soooo cute Sam! I love catching up on your blog, but next time you're over this way text a girl so we can meet up! Take care and keep living & living every minute. You'll blink and he'll be graduating college. ....like my firstborn this coming in May!
